What good things have happened or are happening as a result of a connection or catalyzing by Ted Ernst?

Deep gratitude to Ted for all he has done for so many which could never be captured completely, yet we seek to honor him with acknowledgment as we can.

Please indicate if the story relates to something within or outside of Emerging Futures Network or the member conferences in Chicago (05 and 06) or some other specific event, as that will help with weaving the stories together later.

Ted is probably still a bit of an enigma to me, but ever since we met face-to-face in Canton, he has grown on me alot :-)

Very bright, very techie on o/net - but when I saw him in action in the open space circle his humanity was revealed. What doesn't really come through in writing, but did clearly f2f is that Ted's really a sensitive and very caring and compassionate soul. [causes me to wonder about the wonderful and wise parental role models he had.]

Reliable, helpful, fair and thoughtful - I know that Ted is someone that I can count on. Generous with his time and sharing of his skills to help people use technology better.

Ted is going to help me set up my biz blog, too. And I am very grateful for that.

I think Ted is respectful, respected and as his last name reveals...Earn(e)st.

Enigma is good. I've enjoyed sharing with Ted, from worm-boxes to books to our first memorable exchange on mass transit and bicycles...

Ted is amazing....he has a smile that lights up a room with eyes to match. Every time I see him he has a hug waiting and there's never any shortage of open space in his presence. Ted has taught me volumes about patience and wisdom in community.....without ever saying a word about it.

I think Ted is cool -- too bad he's decided not to engage all that much here anymore. I think that says more about the "community" than it does about Ted. I also think I've already said all I want to say about Ted that I want to (after all, I have no aspirations to write a book or anything like that ;).

Just one thing that I want to add (here & now): I find it really annoying the way his profile page is coded to cover up some of the information with a frame to his homepage -- this totally goes against one of the "usability" dictums Jakob Nielsen professes ("let the user decide"). Other than that, Ted has his head screwed on right (oh, shoot -- I wasn't gonna say anything else; OK, you can neg this comment now -- I will totally understand ;)

Ted is one of my best friends. We met the last day of the Chicago 04 conference, took a walk that lasted the rest of that day and we feel "in love" (as best friends, not to be confused with Regula, his girlfriend)...

  • Ted joined Gerry Gleason and I and a host of others in the giving e-list that we set up to stay connected after the conference.
  • Our e-list group decided to use O.net as a community building tool in July 2004.
  • Ted introduced me to the Humanist Movement and we facilitated a variety of meetings from January 05 to present that facilitate personal work as a means of strengthening social work. Many people, both on and off O.net have participated in these groups.
  • Ted and I were co-sponsors and organizers (along with others) of the Chicago 05 and 06 O.net conference.
  • We have participated together on two O.net funding teams helping to give away O.net dollars.
  • We have attended two Recent Changes Camp conference together (06 & 07).
  • We worked together on hosting the Blaine - Emerging Futures, O.net and Beyond meetup (Dec 06).
  • Ted has worked with me on evolving Emerging Futures Network since we met in 04 and came onto the council of trustees as President in Febuary 06.
  • We worked together to set up Emerging Futures Network O.NET Group in April 06, http://www.emergingfutures.net soon after and more recently the Emerging Futures Network wiki and the wiki associated with http://www.networkweavers.net. As well as setting up the Emerging Futures Network elist (where you can subscribe to a low volume announcement list or a higher volume collaborate list)
  • Ted and I have had 7 face-to-face meet-ups (two that were just us in Chicago) since July 04 and 50+ conference calls with others (either personal work conference calls and/or Emerging Futures Network calls) and hundreds of one-on-one phone, skype, and instant messaging chats outside of O.net.

What I love most about Ted is his ability to accept you for who you are. The way he speaks honestly from the depths of his heart. The way he supports your passion, dreams and hopes (not with mere words) with action. The way he grows and learns with you, in relationship and in community.

Ted is a wise and compassionate man. When he listens to you, he hears you, and when he looks, he sees. His responses show understanding but also empathy and commitment.

And Ted can use your points -- to make his point -- NOW :)

If you believe that reputation points should go to those with a good reputation -- now is the time to express yourself: use them or lose them:)
