Source Tree Commons is having a build.

Many of our O.net and Emerging Futures Network friends will be attending the Source Tree Commons build event between July 10 - 22 in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Emerging Futures Network is one of the sponsors of the event (thanks in part to receiving a 2007 O.Net community award). Geek Gene (including founder Arthur Brock and Mickki Langston)are parent sponsors of this event.

The event is being attended by those folks who love the idea of SourceTree, and are willing to give of their time, talents and energy in intensive work sessions to launch SourceTree!

Folks attending are willing to work on the following areas:

Software Development

  • Identify and document requirements
  • Architecture and design
  • Coding
  • Testing
  • Technical writing and documentation
  • Identifying community flows to design currencies

Messaging / Writing

  • Business Plan / Roadmap
  • Congo/Nango Whitepaper
  • Web site content
  • User work flow & entry points
  • Community outreach strategy (how do we gain participants?)

Organizational Strategy

Community Building

  • Membership Outreach
  • Participation Building
  • News & Communications (informational)
  • Events (management, hosting, etc)
  • Volunteer Management
  • Community Pulse
  • Story-telling and blogging
  • Flow Management
  • Reputation Currencies

This means geeks, geeks and more geeks...and, the powerful community-builders who know how to bring people together.

EFN council of trustee members Michael Maranda, Gerry Gleason, and David Braden will be attending. Kachina Katrina will also be attending as an EFN - Network Weaver as well as other EFN friends like Brandon Sanders (see the STC participation list for). I sure hope folks will keep us informed about what's going on at the event here.

After perusing the Source Tree Commons participant list, I noticed we have 10 O.net members attending:

Of which, 3 are also EFN affiliated Network Weavers :

And, 5 are current (David, Michael, Gerry) or past (Melissa and Brandon)EFN council of trustees.

Submitted by Mickki Langston on Tue, 07/10/2007 - 9:47pm on her blog at: http://sourcetreecommons.org/nod e/48

After many hours of shopping for food, packing the RV, and unpacking everything, we're finally settled in. Everyone is yawning, so I think we'll probably retire early.

So far, it's Jim R, Art B, Mike B, Gerry G, Michael M, Aaron S and me. The house is very cool, and it's exciting to finally be here.

Hey Julie! Thanks for sharing with o.netters about what we're up to.

Just a note - the event is in Breckenridge, Colorado. :)

So far, the first day has been rather productive, with lots of creative conversations. We haven't finished writing the SourceTree Commons white paper, but we'll get there soon. ;)

I invite all of you to skip on over to the site to follow our progress. Thanks for your interest, support and participation.

Thanks again, Julie!

Just received the following PM from:

Hi Julie, Well, the automatic cross-poster thing doesn't seem to work. Too bad.

However, the blog posts are only a small part of the documentation that we are slowly but surely getting online on the STC web site. I will ask Mickki if she would be so kind as to crosspost in the thread you have started, or at least put up an update with links to the newest stuff that has been published on the site.

Most of the stuff that is getting captured from conversations can be found at

http://sourcetreecommons.org/boo k

Thanks Jim for trying the automatic cross-poster to link the STC blog into this thread :^)
