Peace, everybody.
I've just found out about Mashable.com It is an absolutely amazing resource for us network weavers. Among other things, you can list your profile on a number of networks. And, Mashable.com itself is a blogging engine covering the social networking field.
Visit my profile at http://my.mashable.com/stevehabi brose
Looking forward to network weaving (and network mashing!) with you.
in community,
Habib

Thanks, David. I must admit, I got excited when I first saw the site. In thinking more about it, I think we need to learn more about its functionality to decide if it offers benefits to us.
I had been thinking about using it as an extremely easy place for us to store the list of our social networking sites/profiles. However, I'm not sure of the search capabilities. We've implemented something similar on AboutUs. But, since that requires editing the wiki, only people who are comfortable doing that are apt to frequently update their list of profiles. This will be important info to have for the Network Weavers Network, so it would be good to have it as easy to use as possible. There may be another solution, however, such as an automated funciton on AboutUs or o.Wagn.
Another possible advantage of Mashable is that it is positioning itself inherently as a cross-platform site. That is useful for us -- as is all the info that comes across on their Blog. By participating in Mashable, we could get on the "radar screen" of people who are blogging about Social Networking. That would increase tremendously our presence. Not sure that's a good thing at this point, however!
So, let's think about it and keep exploring options...

Sounds good. I will try to get around to setting up a profile on Mashable and play with it some more.

All the shopping around during this transition makes me tired and confused. I haven't played with Mashable much yet, and I'm a real dullard when it comes to even slightly technical stuff online. But Mashable like Netvibes is a place where people can send RSS feeds. I looked at facebook and then noticed that Netvibes had a module where you could put your facebook info at Netvibes. Oddly that made Netvibes more useful to me. So I think that sites like Mashable and Netvibes are going to be site which will be useful for members in this transition.
I was testing out the blog feature of Razoo and put a feed to the blog at Mashable just to test it out. It works fine. There are lots feeds at facebook and Razoo to send to sites like Mashable.
Mashable is using the social network model, whereas Netvibes seems to be more of a personal homepage with a publishing model. I'm not sure I'll find much use in having both, and just from the beginning it looks to me like I'll use Netvibes. Something that Netvibes allows is making Universes, that is pages open to the public with feeds on them. But any user can make tabs from their pages which are open and can be shared.
Now the problem with sites like these is a little help in learning to use them seems useful. I've already said I'm not very good at this sort of thing. I started a thread New Tools For Dummies Not that anyone is reading it, but I'll link to this thread there.

John, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your participation in our discussions.
Would you please consider joining our Network Weavers Network directory at http://www.aboutus.org/NetworkWeavers:ToJoin ? We also have a GoogleGroup at http://groups.google.com/group/n etworkweaving?hl=en However, if you join the emerging futures elist, that is fine -- we'll make announcements in both places when we finally settle on a place (or places!) for our ongoing discussion.
