In an effort to turn ideas into action, and words into actual reality...April is the open to do list month. What objectives and measurable actions do you want to complete for your social purpose enterprise during the month of April? In using this utility, "issue" is measurable action for the month to be accomplished during April 2007. And you can ignore the feature/bug drop down which is not really relevant for out "action tracking" usage of this feature.

Odd, the first link in my post seems to default to the new session. Here is the link: http://www.tricycle.zooleo.com/# f:s_TABS?n:0?n:8
If you follow it and it takes you to the new session (the last digit as a 9 instead of an 8) just change the last number to 8.

I have a few day left to polish this up: http://www.netsquared.org/projec ts/proposals/building-a-communit y-of-modern-abolitionists
Let me know if you have any ideas on how I can improve it. I kept it short to meet their posting guidelines, but many others seem to have ignored the guidelines so I could add to it.

This video was taken by a group of volunteers that we sent to India to work with one of our partners, Apne Aap. They also got to go on the start of BBA's South Asian Anti-Child Trafficking March. I know most of the Apne Aap kids in the video so it was fun for me to see this film, made completely by the volunteers.

Below is a list of features I want to add to our proposal to the netsuared contest. Our current proposal is at: http://www.netsquared.org/projec ts/proposals/building-a-communit y-of-modern-abolitionists
please let me know any ideas you may have to add to this:
- Preliminary Requirements for Abolition Central
Mission: Provide social networking tools that can assist in building and managing a community of modern abolitionists. We are building this with the intent of having members physically work together, not just meet online. We want to take the best practices of groups like Kiwanis and Rotary, focus on the common cause of abolition, and provide the social networking tools to manage and recruit members.
Users can either be: • Individuals not affiliated with a group • Individual affiliated with a anti slavery group • Anti Slavery groups
Features available to individuals who browse but don’t join: • View but not edit: o News stroller o Blogroll o Slavery Info Pages o Community Event Calendar o Research Center o Photo and video sharing o Member group home pages o Discussion Forum • Option to become an individual member

Groups can be defined either as local level groups of people or national anti-slavery groups. • Ability to apply to or join groups. • See calendar items only available to members • Create a personal blog • Comment on others blogs and in forums • Ability to tag items • Ability to upload photos, video, news, etc. • Customize personal pages • Manage buddies list • Join general chat rooms • Donate to groups • Become an e-mentor

Also, we may have some embedding issues with particular browsers. We have only tested it in Firefox so far, so if you see an empty box and not an active session, please let me know.

Hmm - the Onet issues tracking feature is kind of interesting. Wish it was easier to find.
Mark, we've got a P1 issue in common! see the comment on mine for some info you need.

Yeah, I think it is interesting to have the actions being "tracked" in the open like this. Nice to have them all under one easy to manage place as well. WRT easy to find, it is a main link in the top paragraph of the main FOOD CHAIN index page. I suspect if we as FOOD CHAIN use it, find it useful, and such it will eventually be a tab under all o/net groups. For now, let's use and abuse the feature here under FOOD CHAIN and push its limits.

Got it, check, thnx for dropping that in there. Hope to have something to share next week.

Net2 Tech Fund proposals
There are a number of ONETer projects proposed, including John's (Modern Abolitionists), mine (SElearninggames), Evonne's (ManorMeta). In fact, there are over 80 project proposals (they expected about 50)! It is daunting - but thrilling - to review the proposals. So many cool ways of using social tech for social good.
It looks like each Net2 member will have between 5 - 10 votes to cast. Voting takes place next week (Monday, 4/9 - Friday, 4/13). Come on over, see the list of projects, and spread your votes around!

Great reminder.
I'm pleased to throw my support behind each FC member project.

Because the new action tracking feature is new to us, it will take some getting familiar with.
The newest addition (or comment) pushes each one item to the top.
For instance I just asked Peter a question under his item, and it is now at the top.
If this feature is helpful as your "to do list" then you in theory manage all to do items in this location and see when others add to your item.
It would be nice if it had the whole bold/unbold thing so you could tell at a glance something new was there, but we'll just see how this goes.

I guess how one categorises the action/reply determines the ranking.
BTW - I replied.

It is changing a lot so I am going to wait until tomorrow before I start marketing.

Smart move John, I'm also asking my voters to vote for Emancipation because I love your work. I'm writing up an email now and also promised David Evan Harris of the Global Lives Project here on ONet that I would help him spread the word too. ManorMeta was nominated by the TechSoup leaders and we had a wonderful time connecting last week at the NTEN conference in Washington.
Other great ONet-related projects in the running:
- WAGN and HOOZE (Ethan McCutcheon and Lewis Hoffman)
- SourceTree (Arthur Brock with Mickki Langston)
- Genocide Intervention Network (Mark Hanis)

Thanks Evonne. I also plan to support you and the other FC/Onet applicants, especially as it seems like we can vote on a bunch of projects. I intend to email our list as well.
TEN also got a plug from a few posters top choices including a pfrom Daniel Ben-Horin, founder of CompuMentor/TechSoup which I thought was cool:

Not your U.S. Civil War genre John Brown. This is a remarkable melding of a sustainability model with a fierce social vision.
I need to reach out to the GI net as they seem to be doing basically the same thing we are, except for a different issue. We ought to be able to share ideas and resources.

Whoops - I just responded to your other thread about just this before reading all the way through this topic.

A new topic might be the ticket.
Cheers,
Tobias

Thanks for showing me this, Mark. I added one, and will try to think of some more "tangibles." Looks cool.
Also, quick zooleoupdate. We have had various sessions, mainly with Tricycle Magazine. So far about 630 users and 62 questions submitted on the last session that just finished here. The next one -- just up today -- is with a Buddhist teacher names Jack Kornfield, session is on http://www.tricycle.zooleo.com/. The announcement goes out tomorrow, but feel free to join in anytime.
We have not sought many other customers as most people want to hold sessions on their own site, the easiest method to do this is Flash. This way you can embed sessions (uplifting questions, answers, ideas, etc) on your own site, like a youtube video, but larger. We have a working prototype and will be ready for feedback on it soon. Still some glitches to work out.
