yaaaa!!! yesssss!!! i think this is great martin! ya'll are so well organized, and this hits home with women who have been displaced by the fast changing techno-world.

it is so hard for women to find a place in modern economy, and by sticking together, these women have fought to make a difference in thier homes, villages, and culture.

how refreshing to see ANYONE with the guts to take a stand on thier culture and work, involving it together as these ladies have done...and they are going to make it work i think. they need some outside support to encourage them and keep em going!

this is the best project i have seen so far, and i sure hope it grows in support...it involves grassroots organizers, women, workplaces, families, children, improving home and village life, hospitals, libraries, and so much more!

I was told that OHASA, a 501c registered in Ohio would respond

and that that should be no problem. However, it appears there

may be a little problem as the officer who signs the approval

is out of town. It is impossible to signal urgency to them

becasue they are offering a favor, we can not hurry them up.

OHASA's constitutional mission has something to do with the

well being of the illegal mexicans in greater columbus ohio.

Guerrero is one of the 36 Mexican states with the highest

percentage of population in the United States. I think it

is more than 50 percent of the men of Guerrero are up there.

Since all the people here have relatives there, isnt it seemly

that OHASA sponsor a culural and artistic project of artcamp

rural womens artisans cooperativa of tecalpulco, guerrero?

this group could inspire women in rural locations everywhere! there are no boundaries for the arts! keep at it martin!

to build a prospect list, and to be creative, and to have fun

today have been learning about mixers and sound boards and

microphones and condensers and consoles and audio software

Tomas Beltran and gregorio Estrada and other veteran musicos

have picked up on my invitation to have a taxco renaissance

they are preparing to record 15 songs composed by Raful Krayem.

Raful Krayem was born in Taxco in 1909, just before the Mexican Revolution.

He died in 1939 of the effects of carousing,

author of the most beautiful songs of love

Anyway these old guys have already recorded seven songs of Raful.

These were recorded in a studio in Mexico City 5 years ago

which charged them at that time 50 hours for $2500usd.

They are preparing to record here in Taxco next week if possible

in a makeshift studio using the resources available.

So we are getting together the software, cables etc:

It is a wonderful project these songs of Raful Krayem

are precious jewels

and they were in danger of being lost

"Adios Mi Juventud" these veteran taxco musicos recorded about

five years ago. they are all kindergarted teachers and poor.

When i say these guys are poor. i mean the barest necessities

....kindergarten teachers are paid very little in Guerrero,

which is the second poorest state of the 36 states of Mexico.

These guys got so jazzed when i looked them up and told them

the cooperativa wanted to ask them to help out with a movie

about a poor mexican girl who fell in love with a bullrider.

day before yesterday tomas beltran called me and said they

were going to record nes 15 Raful Krayem songs. These songs

there exists NOT modern recording! naturally we are trying to

facilitate that the recording turn out well, acknowledging

that, for the most part, these old guys know more than us.

The Raful Krayem music is truly beautiful because it is sincere.

It is a form of classical music, becuase each song has integrity.

All the parts of verses, melody, ryhthm, inflection are in relation

to the unity of the piece, and the idea it is designed to express.

These songs are classical in the sense each song expresses an idea.

What is an idea? An idea is NOT a sound. An idea is NOT a feeling.

What is an idea? because having an idea is what makes art classical.

"Adios Mi Juventud" has a classical structure i.e. an idea that every part is lawfully subject to.

the faintest idea what is classical music, having lived

their entire lives in the modern post-industrial mileau.

First of all, classical music is NOT a sound or a style.

It is not the sound that makes classical music classical.

Classical music is not a style of music some may prefer.

Classical music is guided by idea not merely by sensation.

some people think the music is in the notes and if one

hears the notes, one hears the music and thats what music is

all about and these people do not comprehend classical music

An idea whose expression, as with all ideas, is via metaphor.

The sound of the notes is only the way the fine substance of idea
