It's about fun, knowledge and enjoying things that interest you. Make learning and skill building fun.

I'm a Linux Geek, not an uber Geek though, just a regular one. You'll find there are many types of things people "Geek Out" on. For instance here is a forum thread on ubuntuforums.org where people talk about what other interests motivate them.

So I am a bit concerned about how the title I've adopted for this project could be a bit misconstrued. But not too much. The focus is on technology, and Free/Open Source technology, and creating a project to advocate for and support the people involved with this community. Specifically to help them outreach to people who would benefit from their activity.

So while the focus is on technology, the real thing I want to capture is the how a Geek can get excited, have fun and embrace a particular interest.

To make that kind of thing contagious, which it tends to be.
