In today's world we know about the success of YouTube and now the founders of this community have recently brought forward a new tool which is called Joost...which will be arriving on the scene very soon.
Given the breadth and interests of our O-net community, is anyone interested to work with me to create an internet based programing for our community and the broader communities of our world?

What impact do visual and sound presentations make over the written word?
How could or would such presentations provide impetus for involvement, change, and support if programs are produced in such locations as our members find themselves around the world?

Many of our O-net community of members are and have been involved in television programing and broadcast...
Does anyone doubt that this could be done with important results for our community?

Brian did you see the video Breaking Through on the Grameen Foundation Site? http://www.grameenfoundation.org /resource_center/video_breaking_ through/ I would recommend it for everyone interested in this discussion. What do you think of 1 min. clips? If you like the story then you could see more or read more about it?
I think people want to be involved with the people they are lending to. Look at the Peace Corp, Mission Groups, Partnership Trips etc.... The interaction leaves both parties in a better place. To give, to go, to generate change, not only individually but in communities as well is a good thing. Let us look for opportunities to serve, to lend, to connect. One picture is worth a thousand words.
This video left me with the images of smiles on people's faces. How many smiles can we add to a community? The mothers said "now I can send my children to school". They have a future. Television can connect people if member story tellers are willing to go and report on individuals. Then we can all see how there might be an opportunity within that village, area, or country to go ourselves or even better together.
You have my vote, my willingness to go and report, and my input. Well done!

There are many people involved in creating programming at various levels of the media food chain, including some short videos that end up embedded in threads here on ONet and elsewhere on the web. Many of our ideas that started here ended up with tens of thousands of web hits from other viewers thanks to ONet inspiration. There's definitely an interest in more valuable programming and at creating systems like ONet where the public can help bring value, not only in numbers of eyeballs but in active rating systems and feedback that helps worthwhile projects to grow.
Joost is a new one to look at, will do....also check out DotSub, interesting technology. We use video hosting on the web in many different communities and would love to talk with others interested in creating collaborative works through our projects here. ManorMeta is up for a NetSquared Innovation Award; you can vote until Monday (tomorrow!) at 5PM at http://www.netsquared.org.

Great to see you here, Evonne!
Remember Brightcove? Are there many players in the "pipeline"?

The Audience Network...hmmm.....
I'm encouraged that CBS owns Showtime, which seems to be the best place for television programming at the moment. There's someone smart over there.

are you talking about this?
(it's the only one I've found -- seems kind of meaningless, doesn't it?)

NMW, the link you sent on pipeline CBS and partners mentioned that they created an Audience Network in just days due to the outcry of the new participatory media movement.

Great Idea Brain! I Love it,what can stop us from having? Visual and sound presentations make a very big difference over that one made by the written word. Visual presentations, tend to be very demonstrative, captivating and tend to transfer the message in a crystal clear manner, compared to the written word that require a lot of concentration and meditation to be able to understand it. As regard to the o.net Television, I'm persuaded that it will attract a big audience,We just need to see to it that the programs we host, are targeting the need areas of the o.net community. Brain, when we are decided on having the o.net TV,I think it will be good to take an o.net survey to assess the opinions of the o.net community as regard to the programs to be on the proposed TV. I'm for O.net TV,lets go for it! Thanks

interesting -- separating the wheat from the chaffe...
and/but this will be an interesting test of how this will success from the WOM angle (see also Is the relative success of WOMM ("word of mouth marketing") an indicator for the relative failure (i.e. poor quality) of information on the WWW ("world wide web")?). My gut feeling is that for US markets, this name is gonna flop -- indeed it might even send traffic to sites like "jammin". In Germany, people might be convinced that this means "yea, man". It's also interesting to note how Neil Budde was totally right like more than 5 years ago when he said that news and commercial advertising are on their way towards fusing together -- he was definitely "ahead of his time" (but not "too much", which is "just right" -- is anyone else hungry?)....

even/also more interesting -- currently the 4 most recently updated groups all somehow have an "Indian" focus (see also our index in the Indian group)

Well...I believe that if we can develop some sort of a gateway for O-net community members to upload, share, view, participate in bringing to our community events, information, learning, sharing...
Does this make sense?

What do you want to know about indie production? We're producing shorts, videos and elements for tv/film on a regular basis, both from our nonprofit organization and from our production company LLC. Living just south of Hollywood we see all types, from major heavy hitters to struggling artists trying to make it work. We anchor a community in Los Angeles where many creatives come together to help produce their vision.
I checked out Jaman, not a bad model; went ahead and signed up to upload a piece but haven't heard back yet from their distribution/content team. There are a dozen or more companies like Jaman now along with many other niche market video providers popping up all over. We use most of the major video hosting communities and have found that other companies pick up our videos without permission and distribute them without credit or compensation for our team. We would love to find better ways to get our work out there to those who can most appreciate it, but finding time to both produce and distribute is a challenge!

Another quite different "format" can be seen on this CNN page. I don't usually pay much attention to mass media, but as I saw that this page is currently [1] among the top ten listings among three major search engines (for "doubleclick"), I though I should check the page out.
(Note: the video link appears on the page)

Hey Brian i have finally made it to thsi thread and have gone through some of the wonderful contributions of members.I am 100% behind the onet TV as it would make us live on the same page. Would you imagine how it would have been had we had the TV during the gathering in Gulu? Its a great idea that you can count me in to report on what goes on around me and the the community that i live in.

I am not interested in investing time or money in typical media productions.
I have been experimenting with this intereest and its social network mapping for about a year now through about 20 micro tv stations.
eg http://economistclub.tv
These typically cost 99$ dollars a year to run, and once the code as started up for free html release to anyone with a web, in many contexts beyond my ken (apart from having some big questions that friends have collected and which I will move hell on earth to see freedom of speech return to)
I look for people who want to take the web on next year for 99$ - for example I cannot do justice to http://herstory.tv
I do also know some smart cultural creatives who from the end of June will be eraching million person virtual audiences if we have selected the utubes that need open debating on each of the ssutainability crisis issues that my generation has left young people to solve
I am also interested in whether from this day on Americans elect to smartne up their mass broadcasting tv
I find one of the best places to discuss the biggest questions world citizens want asking is
For those who want something more fancy - do go register at http://ted.com but so we can find each other most life critical videos to chat about please choose one of your 10 associations as HUMAN - then anyone who registered from this onet starting point will be able to click to each other. As some people may know without ted, it is unlikely that Larry Brilliant would be most conneting person at google.org , and ted.com has keep Bono's wish on Africa going in ways that mass media completly cocked up - tonight's a new beginning American Idol, as potentially is ted's Africa child conference in Tanzania in 1 2 June

Can you imagine being able to watch programs which are filmed especially for our O-net community?
