Aside:

Fire as seen from Rob's front porch.
There was a massive fire on SaltSpring last night. The Bullock Lake Resort (under construction and in financial difficulty) burnt to the ground. Late in the evening Scout and I heard an explosion and commented to one another about it; later learned that was the large propane tank blowing up. Shortly after I got a call from a friend that lives further up the mountain, SaltSpring was on fire! Sure enough, we could see the flames through the trees from the deck. Walked to the end of the road and watched down the hydro slash. It was HUGE! Adam spent the evening and in to the morning playing volunteer fire man. He lives right close by and was one of the 1st on the scene, before the firefighters arrived. He was on flying debris duty, putting out bush fires with buckets of water and wet towels all the while dodging projectile, flaming lumber. When his uncle Todd arrived (volunteer fireman and my brother) his advice to Adam was, stay low and out of my way ... then he complimented him on his hat (bowler).
Adam was pretty pumped by the whole experience. As far as I know, there were no injuries.
One of my clients quipped today ... 'cause of fire, financial combustion'. Guess this is where the scandal starts LOL!
Correction (this is how rumours start). Had a good long chat with Uncle Todd who was safety officer at the fire (thus the stay low and out of my way advice) and thisclose to calling everybody off and just letting it all burn; the large propane tank didn't actually blow up (one of Todd's jobs was to make sure that it didn't, and it didn't), they are not yet sure what exactly it was that was inside causing the explosions.
