Found something on omidyar.net that doesn't seem like it's functioning quite right? Tell us about it here!
Please be as detailed as possible in your report.
Good Report: Posting a comment to a discussion in the Community-General Group. When I chose to Preview the comment, I got a blank screen with a "500 Internal Server Error" instead of the preview. Tried it twice and it didn't work either time. I'm using Firefox on a Mac. Bad Report: The link on my page doesn't work. [Ed. note: this one needs a little more info to help us recreate it.]
- If you are not reporting a bug, but have a suggestion for omidyar.net please start a new discussion in the discussions area of this group.
- If you have a general question about omidyar.net, please look in general help, please.
Again, thanks for your help making omidyar.net better.

I'm having problems when hitting the "upload" button under files (in the Ned and other groups) and all that happens is things spin.
Hoped this problem would rectify itself when it first happened yesterday...but it is still going on today.

Thanks, yes, that happens to me too. I'll get it checked out.

We think that it's fixed - please post if your reality differs.

Heh. My reality always differs...trust me on that one. That aside, pic uploading to files seems to be working fine. Thnx.

A PM showed up and only by chance I happened to check the email version/copy that was sent me. The online version has an entire paragraph (in the middle) missing.
Between that on my end, and them losing power on their end...I'm ready to chuck in technology and just go back to either smoke signals or morse code.

Hi Mark,
Jim Carroll here. I'd like to find your missing paragraph. Someday soon I'll decode your Morse code, but not yet.
If possible, would you please send me the text with and without the missing paragraph? The one other thing that would be useful is the URL that you use to read the PM in your mailbox online. For example, if I go to my inbox, and right click on one of the messages and copy link, I get a URL ending in /msg/121/. Having that whole URL will help me dive into the database and see if the paragraph is hidden somewhere.
Thanks, -Jim

You bet Jim. Please PM me your email and I can email you the email text and the PM URL. (and don't bother decoding the morse, I used bad words). Thnx.

This happens to me fairly regularly. I post and then click on my discussions and I see my own post as unread. This time I notice the timestamp also seems to be wrong. Usually it's correct (1 minute ago or something like that)

Thanks for posting the graphic, Ted. We'll look into it and see if it's something we can quickly fix.

Similar to this, I have noticed recently that I will make a pot and then click on my omidyar.net and my post will show there unread. Thought it was me.

Yippie!
I can report a bug and I know exactly what the problem is! :D
I created a neat-o page over here that works just spiffy keen -- unless there are funky characters in the title or author fields.
Now we all know that Grégoire Japiot is definitely a funky character, and what's more -- his name happens to include a funky character, to namely:
é
So that's the problem: if a character like that shows up in the title or author fields, all hell breaks loose. Can this be fixed?
Thanks!

Ah, sorry -- actually I quasi-resolved the problem by posting over here (but if/when someone posts in the thread that is "authored" by Grégoire, then the whole "spiffy keen" page goes kaputt spits out plain text, blablabla...)
Um, maybe do a test post in the thread started by Grégoire

Receiving PM notices from O/Net that don't tell me who they're from. This started mid-day yesterday. When I log in and check it out, then I know. Some are obvious beforehand. Some are not.

Thanks for the post Debbie. We just changed the PM system so that all PM copies forwarded to your email inbox have the same subject line as the PM arriving in your inbox here on omidyar.net.
If you come across any that have no subject line at all, please let us know.

Ahhhh. But I won't know from whom anymore? Some subject lines like Feedback Received and others don't give me an idea whor or what I might be opening up. I prefer to know ahead of time from whom I'm receiving a PM. Helps me decide if I want to open a PM or let it sit for a while.

not until you click through, no... at least not if you simply look at the copy sitting in your email box, not your omidyar.net inbox.

xposted and clarified my opinion, Thomas.
Thanks for the explanation, but I feel that's kind of inconvenient. Otherwise why get email notification from O/Net at all? Maybe opt out? I don't always want to log into O/Net. Yeah, I know I still get the text in email, but not everyone signs PMs, and it's not always obvious.

Since PMs disappear from omidyar.net after 30 days, many folks use the forward-to-email feature as a way of archiving what they send and receive via PM.
Thanks to your comments, I can see how the subject line change makes it inconvenient to use your email inbox to decide whether or not to open the PM.
Given how long the old subject line rule was in place, it'll likely take a while to get used to the new way.

Thomas is there a thread devoted to announcements of changes? I think this would help alleviate confusion or concern.

Note also in the suggestion that gave rise to the PM change I had asked that the PM author still be named (or perhaps some initials in cluded in brackets). This was, however, not implemented.

Just wanted to let you all know that we think that we've fix the problem where long urls will cause a page to widen.
If you run across a long url that was created before the fix then you should be able to cure it simply by going into "edit" mode and saving - you don't actually need to change anything.
