hey, Lenore

Harry got me hooked on drupal! it's pretty good! at initial look! understand that I am a asm/tcp/cgi type of guy, so I don't much like oop stuff, but drupal is kinda in-between :)

anyway, I've only had a couple weeks to explore this stuff, I never used php or mysql before, but I have basic modules being built and I'm currently trying to structure my own schema system, I do like the core concepts! very similar to how I build from scratch, but the add on modules imo are a total mess!! hehe! just adding layer on top of layer!! has to slow things down a lot! anyway this is just a start, I currently cannot afford to spend time on it full time, but hopefully in a few months I'll have a total grasp and control of the platform, keep in mind that it is changing a lot due to testing and I am constantly changing the environment so some things will turn on and off at regular basis, but please keep an eye on http://2pt1.net, it will eventually turn into some rockin place! :)

I'll check it out, thanks. I'm already checking out the exom site--

Wondered if you had seen this:

http://www.omidyar.net/group/tra nsition/news/28/101/

I think you and Harry have a more bottom-up RSS-feed customized view of site organization that what I proposed for the ned folks, but still worth keeping in mind.

Before there was o-net I don't think we had any ideas what catagories people would want; now I think we have a pretty good idea.

Lenore, :)

I've been thinking a lot about your chart; http://www.cs.tufts.edu/~cowen/n ed.pdf

makes a lot of sense!

also, want to critique drupal a bit, from many aspects it's really pretty good! it's fast! and secure, but there are always drawbacks, it's open source core is changing rapidly, which kindda makes a mess out of the contributed modules! plus there imo are many elements needed for organizational display that are missing from the core architecture, such as a parent/child relationships embeded at the node level, they expect you to do that with addon modules, what a mess!! and the user statistics/tracking is a disaster! (slow!!!) anyway, I still think that it's a pretty good foundation, I'm going to stop messing with the module level customization stuff, and move into the ajax direction using only drupal's core elements, I believe that that is not only easier but certainly better for future support, anyway, I do appreciate your organizational chart, gives me much to think about :)
