About

Sohodojo logo, Big Ideas, Small Business

Jim Salmons and Timlynn Babitsky are founders of Sohodojo. Our mission is to create the technical infrastructure of the Small Is Good World (AKA Friedman's Globalization 3.0 Flat World) where empowered Individuals are less dependent on traditional organizations, and the collective action of these individuals helps to moderate or reduce the excesses of the Big Is Good World. In this context, the Big Is Good World is global capitalism as practiced and spread by the developed nations and transnational corporations, and is characterized by unbridled consumerism.

Our constituents are solo and family-based entrepreneurs and their microenterprise and small business networks in rural and distressed urban communities seeking sustainable participation in the global Network Society and its associated Network Economy.

We pursue this mission through applied research and development of Internet-based software technologies and associated educational and business development materials made available under Open Source and Open Content licenses. Sohodojo is focused on two technical agendas: 1) To support small producer supply chain networks for sustainable decentralized and distributed microenterprise and small business networks, and 2) To provide the E-commerce engine needed to create new, sustainable alternative markets for the products and services supplied by participants of these networks.
