My relationship with Pam and Pierre began in early 2000, shortly after they formed the predecessor organization, The Omidyar Foundation, and I've been learning and evolving at a rapid rate ever since. My previous experience has been with several startup organizations in the technology arena. Primarily working with specialty software applications in a wide array of markets, centered on adopting new technologies into organizations and creating communities of users.
In my nonprofit experience, I worked for many years as “church lady” in a faith-based organization in both California and Colorado, meeting the varied needs of the community. My experience included working with children -- preschool through high school, women’s groups, homeless families, volunteer coordination, fundraising and endless potluck suppers.
As a busy, working mother of two children I've always claimed people and reading as my favorite hobbies. Now that the children are grown my hobbies remain the same, but I have more time for reading. I take a lot of good-natured ribbing about her voracious reading habits. One of my first memories was learning that if I could write my name, Icould get a library card. That was accomplished within one day and, library card in hand, I've been reading ever since and have no plans to stop anytime soon.
