I am a Past President of Rotary Club of Central Calcutta. I was District Secretary - Projects & Program for Rotary Years 1998/99 & 1999/00. In 2003/04 & 2005/06 I was appointed at the District Grant Subcommittee Chairman for RID 3290.

I am Trustee Secretary of The Eastern India Rotary Welfare Trust, through which RI District - 3290 has set up it's Dream Project - Hospital at Salt Lake. I am known for my outstanding work in the Villages of Hooghly District through RI's Program - Rotary Community Corps. Since 2002/03 I am Chairman of Rotary Leadership Institute Eastern India & Nepal. I am a Patron of the 4 Way Test Association

I joined Rotary in 1988. My wife, Ann Chandrakala & I are Major Donors of The Rotary Foundation. All my family members are Paul Harris Fellows and my son Sakate is a Rotary Foundation Benefactor. I am an enthusiastic propagandist of The Rotary Foundation and it's programs.

I have been associated with the Plywood, Tea, Jute, Fertilizer, Tyre tube and Soft Drink Industries. I have represented these industries in various Trade and Research Associations.

i consider myself a philanthropist, and am associated with several Charitable Trusts and Organizations. I am a lover of natural surroundings, and am a keen Golfer. I have represented the country. I was the first National Junior Golf Champion and have been the Chief Referee during the Indian open Golf Championships held at the RCGC.
