About

I'm working on doing something with this page but it's starting to look a lot like a resume. Truthfully I would like to establish my experience to hopefully gain support for a project I'd like to start called GeekRev. I will need support to develop this, as of yet, fully realized initiative.

I'm working on developing the concept of this program in a workspace

That said, about me...

I'm a junior system administrator, Free Software advocate, and recent immigrant to New Zealand. I am currently employed as a System Administrator, for the best Linux hosting company in the world: http://RimuHosting.com

I have a Linux Professional Institute level 1, certification, trained on ISO Quality Management and Environmental Management systems, outcome measurement, aggressive behavior management, hand washing (yes, this was actually part of an inservice training) and many other things. I'm not very good at accounting, but I'm working on improving. My past experience in reverse order includes:

  • 2.5 Years IT Specialist for a commercial Reverse Logistics an Electronics Recycling company.
  • Served a year in the Americorps, in a Nonprofit Technology Assistance Program called Teaming For Technology Chicago: http://www.t4tchicago.org/
  • Participated in the startup of the first sister FREE GEEK chapter based on the original organization in Portland, Oregon: http://freegeekmichiana.org
  • Worked 1.5 years for a SME Non-Profit Organization which provides service to people with disabilities
  • Started and subsequently dissolved a webdesign business called New Improved Media (I was not able to sustain this business)
  • Operated the family carpet business for 10 years

I spend a lot of time in front of a computer, eat sushi, drink flat-whites, and occasionally take hiking or kayaking trips near Cambridge, New Zealand.
