I'm a 21 year old student studying psychology at The University of York. I've been involved in volunteering since I was about 15, starting work on a holiday scheme for mentally and physically disabled children, having started the volunteering ball rolling I found it hard to stop having spent most of my life since actively involved in charities both volunteering and fundraising.
I came to Uganda for the first time when I was 18 and spent about 12 months working on up to 8 different projects as well as finding continued sponsorship for 3 of them, fundraising, doing HIV and Sanitation, Mural painting and Drama classes with the aim of producing an African meets Western version of Romeo and Juliet. I spent my last summer break working in Vietnam in an orphanage and with street children and this year find myself back in Uganda teaching juggling in a juvelnile remand home, it was from this that I was introduced to Christina Jordan and am now working as an Ashoka Apprentice on her PAR factory.
