My Bio
ABOUT SCOTT BEALE
At thirty years old, Scott Beale is the founder of Atlas Service Corps, an international citizen sector organization (CSO) that takes rising CSO leaders from the developing world to volunteer at like-minded US CSOs for one year. Atlas Corps is the first ever organization to reverse the flow of international service by brining people from the global south to the global north. The Mission of the organization is to build a global partnership by integrating the global citizen sector.
For over ten years, Scott has been a recognized leader of the Millennial Generation with an impressive record of political activism and public service. Before launching Atlas Corps he was responsible for coordinating the fight against human trafficking in persons in India for the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi. He oversaw approximately $9 million in USG funding to NGOs, he worked with the Government of India to address trafficking and he wrote numerous reports for the Department of State.
Before working in India, he was a voice for his generation as the author “Millennial Manifesto: A Youth Activist Handbook” and founder of Millennial Politics.com. He has delivered over 250 speeches and workshops in multiple countries on his proven steps to help change the world.
Scott first began addressing national policy as a freshman at Georgetown University when he organized rallies at the U.S. Capitol to protest cuts in federal financial aid. The protests helped reverse the education cuts in the Contract for America protecting Pell Grants and Stafford Loans for hundreds of thousands young people. He then became active organizing students with Rock the Vote (RTV) across the country. On his campus he helped register 1,000 students, organizing the first-ever successful election of two students to the local government. When he graduated, Scott was one of eight students nominated for the school's highest honor, the Spronk Medal.
Since college, Scott's activism has extended beyond the United States, three times taking him to Bosnia, once as the youngest member of an advance U.S. State Department group. While there, he became the youngest Core Supervisor from any country for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), an intergovernmental organization responsible for supervising elections in war-recovering Bosnia. Scott's management of a forty-five person international team resulted in the successful registration of over 30,000 Bosnian voters. In the States, Scott has worked for Governor Tom Carper of Delaware, with the National Governors’ Association, and as the Associate Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House.
In addition to his professional political life, Scott has been empowering members of the Millennial Generation towards social entrepreneurship. As the Mid Atlantic Director of Youth Venture (an Ashoka: Innovators for the Public Initiative), Scott helped over 1,000 young people start organizations that gave back to the community. Through a partnership with the Corporation for National Service, he helped expand Youth Venture from three people to over thirty, in about two years. He is the founder of Millennial Politics.com – a national network of young political activist, and the 2100 Fund – a foundation that throws large parties to raise money for charity. He is a board member of Mobilizing America’s Youth. In December 2004, the Youth Vote Coalition recognized him as one of “30 People under 30 Changing Politics in America.”
Scott has written and spoken on youth activism extensively. He helped research for best-selling authors William Strauss and Neil Howe book, “Millennials Rising”, he authored the critically acclaimed “Millennial Manifesto”, and he is helping edit an upcoming book titled, “Ten Steps to Changing the World.” Scott has given over 250 speeches on the political attitudes and activism of the generation at conferences, on college campuses, in high schools, in the United States Capitol, and in the White House. He has even appeared on CBS’s the Early Show talking about the generation. Established in 1998, his website, Millennial Politics.com (and its earlier versions) has been a constant source of activist information for youth.
He now splits time between Delaware, DC, New Delhi and Colombia developing Atlas Corps. He recently married the woman of his dreams, Courtney Alison Kramer Beale, who is a US Foreign Service Officer.
