Africa is a continent endowned with resources yet it is heavily indebted and its population continue to be ravaged by war, diseases, poverty, corruption, crimes and so forth. A young African is likely to live in problems not because he/she is an African but because the powers that be seem to advocate for these vices, the young child inherits so many problems and debts that he/she might wish they were born in a different continent.
I'm a Social Worker and have a special interests in discussing issues affecting people in special circumstances. Specifically, I would like to hear the opinion of members in this great network on how we can be able to address issues of illiteracy, poverty, HIV/AIDS...which continue to ravage the African population. Currently, I'm working with the Government of Kenya as a Probation/Community Service Officer. My duties include presenting social background inquiries for the law courts, supervising community based offenders and presenting reports to the law courts.
I'm working with communities here in Kenya to address these issues and hence any insight will be highly appreciated. I call upon the members in this network to venture abroad, come to Africa and explore the situation with the aim of helping humanity.
My greatest experience was going to South South, it was an eye opener and it gave me a chance to realy appreaciate where I am and what i have. I have documented the experiences in my personal news.
Recently, i was part of a group of Onetters who gathered in Gulu, Northern Uganda for an open conference. Connecting with members whom i have communicated with for a long time in this forum was a good experience.
Lets join each other and come to the aid of the very needy in our society, if we do this...we will have left the world a better place than we found it.
I'm seeking to network with people who have a clear vision and who are willing to provide useful insights especially to these global challenges.I would wish to hear stories of success and advise on the same. I will particularly be grateful to ideas that will enable me make a difference to my world.
Views are warmly welcome.
Best Regards.</font>
