Hello to all – Business is my vocation and my avocation. Music has been a primary joy and adventure in my life. I love people and animals. My life is blessed in every way.
About My Business Life
I’m an entrepreneur and business consultant who specializes in consumer products and technologies targeted to the natural health, wellness, entertainment, and luxury consumer goods markets.
I help entrepreneurs and high-level executives develop Vision Plans and Actualization Maps for their businesses – actual businesses, or concepts and dreams.
Working with emerging products that require intellectual distribution is my central interest. I love the psychological, emotional, and political aspects of business; the people who make it all work – or sometimes fail.
I am here to support all of you who have a business dream - or a social dream.
Here’s some information on what I do, how I do it, and why I’ve ended up owning so many businesses! I am the founder and principal consultant of a San Francisco based firm (named after me) and we’ve worked primarily on turn-around and new business development issues for independently owned businesses ($0 to $300Million). Our client list includes companies in a wide range of consumer markets: Natural Health; Natural Foods; Health and Wellness Products and Services; Children’s Products; Media and Entertainment, Apparel and Fashion Accessories; Home Accessories, Furniture, and Interior Design; Wine & Spirits; Specialty Foods; Professional Firms & Service Organizations.
My projects average 12-18 months in duration, and I usually have 2-3 going at one time.
I am a classic Business Generalist, and it is almost always the case that I act as an interim “C” level executive while the project is in progress, and then hire for those positions in the final few months of my transition out of the company.
About My Music Life
I started playing classical guitar at the age of 5 when one of my cousins came to visit from Spain. He was a professional guitarist and singer, and brought a ½ scale guitar for me as a gift.
My parents – saints, actually – spent the next 10 years “enjoying” the loud and obnoxious sounds of me learning to play anything with strings, keys, sticks, or reeds (none, particularly well, mind-you!). At 17 I founded my first band and recorded my first 3-song demo which I had duplicated to 1,000 cassette tapes (if you don’t know what a cassette tape is, ask your parents, or I can send you a picture – hell, I can send you an actual demo (I think I have about 900 left over)!
From ages 17 to 37 I played professionally and recorded over 150 of my own songs, and appeared on about 35 records and CD’s for other artists, while working by day as a business consultant. This dual-life worked out fine, except for the “Mohawk” years – 1985-1988 – let’s just say my business as a consultant was a teeny bit slow.
I officially retired at age 37, and literally did not pick up an instrument for 6 years. At the urging of my teenage niece (an aspiring singer, herself) I put up a My Space Music page and learned that lots of people liked hearing my songs. I connected with musicians I had played with years earlier, and figured out that I could just give my songs away and not be bothered with the parts of the music business that did not appeal to me (like the “business” part).
I’m now back in the studio, and having a wonderful experience reconnecting with music.
I’m kind of hoping that someone will ask me to compose and record a song for an organization or do-good project so that my work can generate lots of money for a great cause.
Please keep this under your hat – I’m only telling you: I’m percolating on a little selection for the Ned Membership project.
About My Blessed Life
I married the perfect woman, and we live near the beach in northern California. I have wonderful clients, fantastic friends, and a loving and supportive family. I have a lot to give because I have been given so much.
If you think I can help you, send me a PM and tell me about yourself and your dream!
If you like my music, please download it and dance around your kitchen with your friends!
I wish you all the best in your interactions here at the Omidyar network, and hope that your life is everything you are dreaming it can be.
A Word About My Feedback Life
I wanted to take the emphasis off of feedback points for my primary home page, and thus you don't see my stats - if you'd like to give feedback to me, you can still do so by going to any of my comments on the network.
With great love & respect for you ~
Gina
