Well, in the scheme of things, a very small day. For me, today marks the transition out of a 6-year relationship with AmericaSpeaks into new territory as a free agent.
Its kind of nerve-wracking to unplug from a stable employment situation, one that provides a certain amount material means to direct toward activities one cares about. Now, I'll have to be much more disciplined in my approach - to my art, education work, web work - and certainly meeting a bottom line for my family.
Anyway, my "dominant" shingle is MixedMedia - everything else falls under it for the time being. It has been fun to open a business checking account and attending to the small details of a free lancer's life. We'll see if it remains so!
Anyway, wish me luck - and feel free to send some work my way ;)

Happy Whatever!
Why not celebrate with a new group? (How many children do you have?)

hmm -- maybe: group/artwork and/or collaborative artwork(s) or "mixed-up confusion" or something like that?

I wasn't saying you should abandon peacetiles!
When I think of ideas, I think of them as floating in space -- and it's up to me (or someone else) to "make the connections" (i.e. "connect the dots") by which they are related.
Like: apples, oranges, fruity stuff like that....

i didn't think you were nmw - i am just aware of "group creep" or "discussion proliferation" and how new group for me = more work. i need to limit my roots and shoots, if you know what i mean :)

Congrats on stepping into the great unknown. I've found once people start their own company they can rarely go back to work in the traditional sense again.

OK, I guess you have a point: "more work" doesn't sound like a good way to celebrate. So if phlat organization is not what you're into, then I guess you'll have to "get deep"...

Wahoo!! Way to go, Lars. As Whats-her-name says in "The Artist's Way", "Leap and the net will appear." Don't let fear rob you of valuable time. You're going to love the creative freedom you'll have now.
Mark is right about not going back to "a real job" once on your own. I tried last year and failed. I loved the paychecks and insurance, but I couldn't stand coming up with ideas and not running with them.
I think this freedom, and the resposibility that comes with it, will send you soaring! Go for it, my friend and CONGRATULATIONS!!

I'm confident, given the person setting it, this path you've chosen leads to great things.

Congratulations, Lars!!! Mark sent me here from Harry's crazy polishing the brass page. Working for yourself is best, except for being mad at the boss.

Sorry I'm so behind the times. How long have you had the Mixed Media site? It is beautiful. Best of the best for your latest adventure. You are fated for success, and smart enough to know when to make the right moves. What kind of work do we send you? Sorry again if I seem so out of it, but, I have excuses.
